Littleborough Civic Trust Update
AGM - 14th November - 18:30 - Hare Hill House: Because we are now a "Charitable Incorporated Organisation" the AGM format will differ from previous years and is as recommended by the Charities Commission. Those that were voted on as Committee Members and Officers last year are now legally Trustees. In order to maintain consistency, there will only be a small number of Trustees that stand down each year (they can choose to re-stand if they wish) and these will be decided between now and the AGM. We will send out notification as soon as this is settled. All paid up LCT members can stand as a Trustee if they so wish and the Chair will call for a vote at the AGM if necessary. Officers will be chosen by the Trustees at their first Trustees Meeting (which will follow the AGM).
The agenda for the AGM is:
1. Minutes of AGM - 29-11-2016
2. Chair’s report
3. Financial report
4. Election of Trustees to fill vacant posts
The first Trustees Meeting will follow the AGM and members are welcome to stay on for this.
Good? Bad? or Ugly?: We're starting what we hope will become an annual event. Between now and the end of December, we're looking to you to suggest aspects of Littleborough's buildings or landscape that you think fit under one of these categories - "Good", "Bad" or "Ugly". It can be anything from a particular building or shop front to a small patch of land, but it has to be in Littleborough (including Smithy Bridge and Summit). You can email your thoughts to: email@example.com where Mike Price will collate everything.
In your email, we'd like you to give us a clear description of what you are suggesting (a photo would be good but not essential), which category you think it comes under (only one) and why. We will put together a judging panel in early January and announce the top three "winners" in each category by the end of the month. There will be a certificate awarded to the top 3 in the "Good" category.
We've now fixed the date for our Members Only meeting with Tony Lloyd MP for 7:00pm on Friday, 27th October at Hare Hill House. The meeting will focus on two important aspects of Littleborough - housing/infrastructure and parking. We apologise for an error in our previous newsletter - there will be no charge for members attending this meeting.
Chester Christmas Market Trip - 3rd December: There are still a few seats available for the LCT coach trip to Chester on the 3rd December. The morning will be spent exploring some of the hidden gems of Chester led by members of the Chester Civic Trust and the afternoon will be free time to explore Chester's famous Christmas Markets. Numbers are limited to 35 at £15.00 per person for LCT members and partners/spouses to cover the cost of the coach. You can get the full itinerary and a booking form by clicking HERE
Canalside Development Group:
Things continue to move forward with the "Cafe Boat" project. We now have "agreement in principle" from the Canal and River Trust, so the next step is to put in a formal planning application to RMBC.
Visitor Notice Boards
You are probably aware that the Visitor notice boards outside the Station and Coach House give information about Rochdale in general. Many Littleborough residents have said that they should be more Littleborough specific. We have started a conversation with local Councillors about this and hope to set up a meeting with RMBC soon.
Last week we received confirmation from the Charities Commission that LCT is now officially a "Charitable Incorporated Organisation". Many thanks go to Nick Andrews for all the work he put in to getting this sorted.
